I really love creating geometrical abstract pieces recently. To create such pieces, one's mind has to be clear and quiet because each stroke plays a significant part to the whole. One stroke more could destroy the piece as much as one stroke less. It is unlike the energy of absatract expressionist which is speedy and energised. My energy is quiet.

For the past few days, my older narrative and botany pieces haven been shown quietly at a small corner of the Utterly Art booth at the Affordable Art Fair 2016. My thought has been if only the abstract works are shown, would they have attracted like-minded people who enjoy the peace of simple shapes and colours? I am instinctly drawn to things less cluttered. I like things that are a bit vague and sparse. And that is perhaps the reason why I like impressionistic paintings over highly-realistic paintings, a plain ceramic bowl with a dash of turquoise over intricate ornamental patterns.

When all is said and done, it comes down to the subjective self. We are drawn to different things due to our personality. There is really no right or wrong because that is what art is about.
